If that doesn't solve your issue, it may be worth replacing the hard disk with a solid state drive. If the issue is Disk getting stuck at 100% - which I think is most likely - defragment the hard disk you have got fully. Which one it is will determine what to do next. The chances are that one or both of CPU usage and Disk usage (which is Disk access resources, not capacity) is hitting 100%. To troubleshoot the speed issue I would open the Task Manager (one easy way to do this is to press Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and watch the Processes and Performance tabs. However, blindly throwing replacement or upgraded hardware at the system before understanding the root cause of your issues risks wasting money without solving the issues. The major weakness in the hardware is the hard disk the system may well feel more responsive if this was replaced with a solid state drive. The processor is almost at the top of the Intel 'U' series range in that generation, 16GB of RAM is still generous for most users today and you have a fairly powerful dedicated GPU. Your system is fairly generously specified, albeit a couple of generations behind the latest on the market. I was going to replace the hard drive thinking that may be the problem, but even that passed according to the diagnostic test HP sent. So far I have spent $270 and the technicians don't know what is going on. The only thing I do not know how to do is to determine and turn off or removed programs that are loading up (that do not need to be loading up) upon booting in. I have run all kinds of tests, checked it for malware, viruses, etc. eitght minutes for the computer to boot up. I am having issues with this system in that when I place the laptop in sleep mode two minutes later I cannot get it to come out of sleep mode. The keyboard options they provided did not line up with the keyboard on my laptop nor the extended keyboard, so I picked the one closest to what I do have and the keyboard still failed even though all the keys showed that they were operating. HP sent me a diagnostic test program to download.
